Section 2.10: Fantastic, absolutely fantastic stuff. As always a little skeptical and amused of the physicist's tendency to pull a sine or cosine wave out of thin air, but it sure works nicely. The Taylor series in (2.105) serves no apparent purpose to me, as this is just the chain rule, but it's a minor point. The rest is actually pretty intuitive after the introduction of the propagating plane wave and the fairly natural acoustic approximation.
